Introduction

Arlesey is a small town situated in the county of Bedfordshire, with a population of over 6000 and extends for about 3 miles along the River Hiz valley. In historic times, Arlesey was a Royal Manor (Manor of Arleseybury) and a market town, once known as the most prosperous parish in the area and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. St Peters Church is situated at the Church End side of the town and was built over 900 years ago by the monks of Waltham Abbey.
